Hyaluronic (Gel) Injections
Hyaluronic acid injections—often called gel injections or viscosupplementation—are primarily used to manage symptoms of knee osteoarthritis. The injected material is designed to supplement the joint’s naturally occurring lubricating fluid and may improve comfort for some patients.
Bay Area Orthopaedics evaluates symptoms, examination findings, imaging, previous treatments, and insurance requirements when considering gel injections. Improvement varies, may not be immediate, and does not reverse the underlying arthritis.
