The Centers for Advanced Orthopaedics is redefining the way musculoskeletal care is delivered across the region with locations throughout Maryland, DC, Virginia and Pennsylvania.
Neck and back conditions can cause localized pain as well as numbness, tingling, weakness, or pain that travels into an arm or leg. Although many spine problems improve without surgery, some conditions require a surgical evaluation.
Bay Area Orthopaedics carefully considers symptoms, examination findings, imaging, previous treatment, and overall health before recommending a procedure. When surgery is appropriate, the goal is to relieve nerve compression, improve stability, reduce pain, and preserve or restore function.
Consultation may be appropriate for persistent radiating pain, progressive weakness, impaired walking, or symptoms that remain disabling after conservative treatment. New bowel or bladder dysfunction, saddle-area numbness, or rapidly worsening weakness requires emergency evaluation.
This page highlights some of the conditions and procedures available through Bay Area Orthopaedics. It is not intended to be a complete list. Treatment decisions are based on the diagnosis, neurologic findings, imaging, health, and personal goals.
